OUR STORY

North Glencoe began as a mission, August 14, 1960, with a two week revival in a tent. The evangelist was Rev. H. Ray Wood, Pastor of Glencoe Baptist Church. During so, 41 members transferred their membership from the mother church to help establish the mission.

On August 28, 1960, regular worship services began with Rev. A.B. Farmer acting as interim pastor. Bible study began with an enrollment of 59 in Sunday school and 39 in Training Union. Rev. Farmer was called as our first pastor on September 14, 1960. Ground was broken for the first building in October 1960. Services were first held in the new building on December 11, 1960. We were honored to have the title of the first mission in the history of the Etowah Baptist Association to have an established library at the time it was organized into an independent church. North Glencoe officially became a church instead of a mission on March 5, 1961 with a total membership of 129. Our church began growing as we became mission-minded. God began to work through many new ministries to further His gospel.

The next 40 years were blessed with dedicated leaders, faithful worshippers, and a great desire to reach the community for Christ. This helped lead to two worship services, then eventually a move into our gym as a temporary worship center for the next several years. God blessed us with the opportunity to purchase Miss Martha's Originals Warehouse on Highway 431, which is our current location. After much prayer from our staff and the church, the decision was made to make the move. The first service was held in the temporary worship center, (currently the high school worship room) in August of 2005. The new worship center was opened officially as our present place of worship on Easter Sunday 2006.

Our mission remains the same, from the very beginning North Glencoe has been about reaching out to our community. For over 50 years, we have proclaimed the great news of Christ, and we are excited about all the new opportunities God has ahead for our church! As we continue to expand this mission, we hope you and your family will join us as we seek God's vision for the future!
